#23 Things Digital - Thing 4 - Digital Footprint

I have just Googled myself and not one piece of information is stored about me, I’m old school in the sense of posting pictures of myself (I’m not in the age of the selfie), I don’t post things on Facebook that I wouldn’t like others to see and do not comment and discriminate against others.  Once it’s posted its out there and I have always known that - you can’t take it back - so think before you post. I personally know people that have not been successful when applying for a job because the company has searched Facebook and found not very flattering pictures, comments or rants that they have posted. In my current place of work we have a Social Media Policy that all new employees must read and sign and adhere to, we have parted company with a few members of staff due to them posting comments or emojis about me personally using 4 letter words or symbols because they were not happy about being told something or having a disciplinary.  We ask that no-one lists where they work on Facebook

#SSSC 23 Things Digital - Badge 3 - Why Digital?

The year 2020 has made me personally realise how lucky I am to live in the Digital Age, if Covid-19 had happened even 40 years ago when personal computing was in its infancy we would be in a much more isolated, solitary, bereft society and I believe mental health and well-being issues would be much greater. As we cannot have indoor visiting at present due to Scottish Government guidelines and sadly we have a case of Covid-19 in the home virtual meetings, chats, mobile telephone calls have all been a life saver.  It is truly lovely to see a relative gasp and smile when they see their mum or dad looking well and engaging with them, even though they cannot touch or be close to them it gives the

#23 Things Digital - Thing 2 - Open Badges

SSSC23things - digital Well here I am again and it’s now the end of January 2021 and I’m just getting back into studying for the year.  I find the SSSC Badges a great and varied way of learning from writing a Reflective Account to keeping up to date on new practices and ideas for my day to day working in the Health & Social Care Sector. I’m a Deputy Manager and one of my main roles is training needs, mandatory annual updates and trying to engage all levels and roles in the Care Home, is very difficult.  I have found the use of SSSC Badges invaluable and everyone of my Carer colleagues has an account and have over the past 3 years managed to achieve a few of the badges. I think it is a fantastic modern way to encourage some of my co-workers to not be frightened of computers and typing their Reflective Accounts rather than writing them, we do after all live in a digital age that is ever changing.  The year 2020 really proved how vitally important being digitally connected is both in
